Episode 5 - Bekah Read

Mending Families is hosted by Melissa Pemberton and she brings you weekly content that is a mix of trauma aware interviews, parenting tips for those caring for kids from adversity, and stories from people just like you as they share their beautiful messy moments. Melissa hopes that when you listen each week, you will feel encouraged, inspired and take a little something away to help you and your family move from broken to mended.

Melissa and Bekah met when they launched a church together in 2019, right before COVID. They became close friends as the church went through many ups and downs and although the church is no longer in existence, their friendship has only grown stronger.  Bekah is a small business web designer, Squarespace educator, and momma of 2. Bekah finds joy in the process of discovering the person behind the brand and making them feel known. Her goal and deepest desire is to be her client's biggest cheerleader in their craft and provide them with a community of supporters.

On today’s episode, Bekah shares how she has survived motherhood thus far and shares her struggles of finally getting a diagnosis for her daughter after a year of hard. She takes us back to 8 years ago when she was a foster parent in Honduras and the stories she tells will shock  you as much as they give you chills.  We touch briefly on trauma and the support she received while fostering internationally, but most importantly, Bekah is honest and raw as she takes us on her journey.
